Welcome! My name is Faisa and I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist in private practice in Toronto. I provide online therapy to individuals and families who are residents of Ontario. My areas of speciality include relational issues, trauma-focused therapy, and perinatal mental health care.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in different areas of the mental health field, including community-based, academic, and hospital settings. This experience includes providing psychotherapy and group facilitation, delivering workshops for organizations, teaching post-secondary courses, and conducting social work research.
I came into this work from a personal place of wanting to better understand myself by exploring the pivotal, and often difficult, experiences that have shaped me. I apply this same curiosity and care to my work as a therapist by offering a supportive space for you to explore your presenting concerns and reconnect with your strengths. I’m passionate about helping people better understand themselves, others, and the world around them so that they can live a more connected and fulfilling life.
Approach
My approach to therapy is non-judgmental, collaborative, and relationship-centered. Our work will begin with a focus on helping you feel safe and connected by developing a therapeutic relationship that is rooted in warmth, empathy, and reliability. In our sessions, we’ll further explore your presenting concerns and identify the best path towards healing for you. This may involve helping you become more aware of how you organize your emotions and experiences, developing resources to calm your nervous system, processing past experiences that contribute to present problems, or working to change the habitual patterns that impede your overall wellbeing. Depending on your needs, I integrate skills and concepts from different therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, interpersonal, and somatic therapies.
I recognize that each person brings with them their own lived experience and tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. I will hold space for these needs while also considering how systemic barriers may intersect to negatively impact your wellbeing. My hope is that our work together will help you better understand and process the needs for which you are seeking support.
