Areas of focus

EMDR Therapy

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to support individuals who experience difficulty coping with symptoms related to trauma, stress, and phobias. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that helps people reprocess traumatic or distressing memories so that they can experience them in a different way. When trauma occurs, the images, beliefs, emotions, and physical sensations at that point in time seem to get stuck in the brain. In EMDR therapy, bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, are used to help get the brain unstuck so that the person’s brain is not reacting as if they’re still in danger.

Perinatal Mental Health Care

I have completed trainings with Postpartum Support International which guide my work in supporting people through pregnancy, postpartum, and into new parenthood. I’m passionate about supporting the wellbeing of women as they transition into new motherhood. While becoming a parent can be a happy and exciting time, it can also feel overwhelming and scary. My own journey into motherhood was filled with unexpected worries and risks that sometimes felt like they outweighed the positive moments. I often felt unprepared and unsupported to cope with the challenges I experienced in my own body, in my relationships, and navigating the healthcare system. These difficult experiences inspired me to pursue perinatal mental health care as an area of focus.
