The Birth of a Child Means the Birth of a Parent
Becoming parents is a new beginning. For most parents, it is a time of hope, anticipation, and excitement. The secret to successfully managing the transition is to keep your relationship strong.
Most New Parents Experience Some Relationship Dissatisfaction
Research shows that within three years after the birth of a baby, approximately 2/3 of couples will experience a significant drop in relationship quality and have a dramatic increase in conflict and hostility. The birthing parent usually experiences the drop 4-6 months after baby is born through the end of the first year. The co-parent usually experiences the drop late in the first year continuing through the second year.
